MATA ATLÂNTICA BIKE ROUTE

The Mata Atlântica Bike Route traverses five Brazilian states from Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul through more than 2,500 km of mostly unpaved roads and trails. Inspired by the Caminho da Mata Atlântica long-distance trail, it follows the Serra do Mar mountains to connect protected remnants of the Atlantic Forest, notable for its high biodiversity and incredible natural beauty. Ecosystems vary from tropical forests to temperate grasslands with Araucaria trees. Landscapes range from mountains and canyons to plateaus and beaches. Emblematic wildlife can be spotted along the way. Multiple traditional communities and historic towns dot the route, showcasing the cultural diversity of Brazilians and their ancestors.
